Sustainable Fibers

Similar to textile production, I understand the grave importance of sourcing materials from sustainable, and when possible, local sources. Because I dye all my own fibers, I have greater flexibility with where I purchase my materials. There are countless farms and ranches around the country that produce wool, mohair, angora, alpaca, and tons of other protein fibers. While cellulose fibers like cotton and linen are slightly less sustainable, I always prioritize the use of organic materials from family-owned businesses.

My passion for fibers and vintage fabrics is deep and vast. There’s something so very magical about finding a beautiful cut of fabric that is older than you. As of 2017, the U.S dumped 11.2 million tons of textile waste into landfills. There is essentially no need to manufacture and purchase new fabric, therefore I source all my fabric from thrift stores and generous folks willing to save and share their excess and unwanted fabric with me.
